About VSF

The Viki Sorrentino Foundation (“VSF”) is a nonprofit organization created to honor the beautiful life, voice, and legacy of Viki Sorrentino. VSF was founded by Nicole LoPiccolo to continue her sister’s mission of making a difference in the lives of individuals, communities, and cultures through the power of music.

From an early age, Viki’s life was filled with music. She studied flute, piano, and voice and continued to pursue her passion throughout her life. By the time she was in college, Viki was performing everywhere from Bellmore to New York City, and eventually throughout Europe and beyond.

Viki earned her M.S. from LIU Post, where she studied music education and was a proud member of the Chamber Singers, Madrigal Singers, Vocal Jazz, and various choral ensembles. As her musical journey evolved, so did her passion for sharing music with others. Viki became a devoted educator, director, cantor, performer, and coach, nurturing the talents of young musicians and helping them discover their own voices.

For thirty years, Viki served as cantor at St. Barnabas Church in Bellmore, where her voice and presence became an important part of the community. Her music continues to live on in the countless lives she touched there and throughout the musical communities she served.

Later in life, Viki beautifully bridged her two greatest passions—music and education—through her career as a kindergarten teacher at Grand Avenue Elementary School. Whether teaching kindergarten or second grade, she continued to incorporate music into the classroom, using it as a way to inspire, connect, and enrich the lives of her students.

Viki truly believed that music could create a brighter future. We at VSF believe that, too.

Our Mission

VSF supports music education and musicians by creating opportunities for individuals and communities to experience, learn, and grow through music. We believe that access to music education and performance opportunities can open doors, build confidence, inspire creativity, and change lives.

We partner with educational and musical institutions to bring music to those who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities. Through scholarships, performance opportunities, instruments, educational programs, and community events, we strive to put music in the hands, hearts, and lives of the next generation.

At VSF, we believe in setting the stage for success—helping aspiring musicians find their voice, encouraging young people to pursue their musical dreams, and keeping Viki’s passion for music and education alive for generations to come.
